1.3.1.4: Detect Wrong Way Vehicles

This process shall be responsible for collecting and monitoring data obtained from sensors, detectors, and other indicators in order to determine that a vehicle is traveling in the wrong direction. This process shall collect traffic sensor data from the Process Traffic Sensor Data function. This process shall aggregate the data received directly from the traffic sensors and video detectors with any data collected from mobile sensors. This process shall determine when a vehicle is traveling in the wrong direction relative to the normal flow of traffic. When this process determines a wrong way vehicle violation it shall provide that information to the management center function to Monitor Vehicle Detection Movement, to local and remote signage to warn other drivers, and to roadside equipment that can generate messages for broadcast to equipped vehicles.
